Threats made against speed camera operator in Larnaca

Police provide protection after operator's disturbing encounter

A speed camera operator reported receiving verbal threats from three individuals early this morning in Larnaca, according to police.

The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, where the operator's vehicle was parked. The driver told authorities that the trio approached him within 4 to 5 meters and threatened to damage his equipment if he did not leave the area.

Police officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate the suspects, who had fled on foot. The three individuals were described as being between 30 and 40 years old.

Throughout the night, police provided patrol coverage and protection for the speed camera operator. The operator later visited the Larnaca Police Directorate to give a formal statement regarding the incident.
