Starting from Monday, the traffic surveillance system will be expanded with the activation of four new traffic cameras in Limassol.
According to a statement by the Cyprus Police, these new cameras will monitor the intersection of Archishop Makarios III Avenues with Despoinas and Nikos Pattichis, and Archishop Leontiou A'.
It is worth mentioning that fixed cameras are already operational in the Limassol district, monitoring the intersection of Archishop Makarios III Avenue with Agias Zonis.
In the Nicosia district, there are also operational fixed cameras monitoring the following intersections:
- Griva Digeni with Dimosthenis Severis,
- Limassol with Armenias,
- Prodomos with Griva Digeni,
- Arch. Makarios III - Spyros Kyprianou - Digenis Akritas, and
- Strovolos with Mahairas Street in Strovolos.
Furthermore, across the whole island, 20 mobile cameras are in operation daily.
"The main objective is always to reduce serious and fatal road accidents and to promote proper road awareness in our country," concludes the statement from the Police.
