In the early hours of Thursday morning, a training truck stationed at the road transport department yard in Paphos became engulfed in flames, sending plumes of smoke billowing into the sky. Assistant Police Director Michalis Nikolaou reported that the fire broke out around 4:30 am, startling nearby residents and prompting swift action from emergency services.

The truck, owned by a seasoned 58-year-old driver trainer, was a vital tool in preparing aspiring truck drivers for the road. Permanently parked in the yard, it served as a classroom on wheels for those eager to obtain their truck license. However, the tranquility of the night was shattered when the blaze erupted, leaving behind a charred shell of what was once a valuable training asset.

Fortunately, the Fire Service responded promptly to douse the flames, preventing further destruction. As dawn broke, investigators from the Police, Fire Brigade, and Electromechanical Service descended upon the scene, their collective mission clear: to unravel the mystery behind the inferno's origin.

Meanwhile, adjacent to the transport department, another truck belonging to a local company fell victim to the chaos. Parked innocently beside the training truck, it bore the brunt of the fire's fury, sustaining extensive damage in the process.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this alarming incident, questions linger in the air. What sparked the fire? Was it a tragic accident or something more sinister? Residents and authorities alike await answers, determined to ensure such a catastrophe doesn't strike again.
