Newsroom

Weather is still relatively warm in Cyprus with inland highs in the mid-30’s, while rain showers and a temperature drop on Friday are expected to last only through Saturday.

Thursday skies will be mostly clear throughout most of the day while afternoon clouds are expected to appear in parts of the island, mainly inland and over the mountains. Maximum high temperatures are expected to reach 36° Celsius inland, 29 out west, around 32 in all other coastal areas while it will be 25 up on the mountains.

Evening skies will be mostly clear with periods of increasing cloud formations, especially overnight that could give way to isolated showers. Minimum low temperatures will register 19° inland, around 21 in the south and east, 22 out west and in the north, while it will be 12 degrees up on the mountains at the highest elevation.

Somewhat cooler, wet Friday

Friday will be cloudy out west and in the north with a chance of rain showers, while clear skies are expected in all other parts of the island through most of the day. However, clouds in any part of the island could appear later in the day with a chance of rain showers and even isolated thunderstorms.

Temperature is expected to fall mainly over the foothills and mountains but also around the capital, while averages will remain normal for this time of the year.

Mixed weekend weather

Weekend weather will be mostly clear but with cloudy skies during some parts of the day, mainly inland and over the mountains during noon and early afternoon hours.

Some local showers are expected on Saturday over the mountains while temperature will begin to rise just ahead of Sunday.
