The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures, set to take effect from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, August 19. Temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius in the interior and 33 degrees in the highlands.
A seasonal low-pressure system and hot air mass are impacting the region.
Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear, though low clouds will gradually develop, particularly inland and along the coast. By morning, areas of sparse fog or even dense fog may form. Winds will be light, mainly from the west to northwest, at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. Overnight temperatures will drop to around 23 degrees inland and on the coast, and 20 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tomorrow, the weather will remain mostly clear, with increased low clouds or sparse fog likely in the morning, especially along the coast. Winds will start off variable and light at 3 Beaufort, becoming mainly southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, with occasional gusts up to 5 Beaufort on the south coast. The sea will be slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to 40 degrees inland, 31 degrees on the west coast, and around 33 degrees on the remaining coasts and in the higher mountains.
Tomorrow night, skies will stay mostly clear. Winds will continue from the west to northwest at 3 Beaufort, with the sea remaining slightly rough.
The outlook for Tuesday and Wednesday is mostly clear skies, with a slight increase in clouds on Thursday. Temperatures will remain steady through Wednesday before a slight drop on Thursday, though still above average for this time of year.
