The University of Cyprus is ranked 462 among 1250 institutions around the world, according to US News & World Report on Best Global Universities.
US News examines the 1250 best schools and colleges of higher education using a wide range of criteria, including world-class research reputation.
The rankings allow people to compare the relative quality of institutions based on widely accepted indicators, such as academic excellence, first-year student retention and graduation rates, as well as the strength of the faculty including publications in world-renowned journals.
UCY has been focusing on academic excellence over the years under the leadership of its current Rector, Physics Professor Constantinos Christofides. Among Greek universities, the top institution on the list was the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, usually known simply as University of Athens, ranked 286th.
Harvard was ranked top of the list while British institutions Oxford and Cambridge were ranked 5th and 7th respectively.
