58-year-old driver dies in fatal Paphos rotating crash

A 58-year-old driver lost his life in a crash between the Ayia Varvara and Axylou communities in Paphos

A 58-year-old driver lost his life in a crash between the Ayia Varvara and Axylou communities in Paphos on Tuesday.

The assistant Paphos police chief Nikos Tsapis said the crash occurred at around 4pm, when the 58-year-old lost control of his vehicle which rotated several times on the left side of the road.

The 58-year-old was a foreign national who was employee of a local company and a resident of the area of the crash.

The fire service rushed to the scene to drag the driver out of the wrecked vehicle. The driver was transferred via ambulance to the Paphos general hospital A&E, where doctors confirmed his death.

Paphos traffic police went to scene of the crash to examine what caused the fatal accident.

Tsapis said preliminary evidence points to human factors behind the crash, and called on drivers to comply with road safety rules.
