In a recent development, the I & C Hadjiyiannakou (Farms) Ltd, engaged in cattle farming, faces a €11,000 fine imposed by the Larnaca District Court.

The penalty stems from serious safety breaches leading to a severe injury to one of its employees during a work-related incident. The company neglected safety protocols, resulting in significant consequences.

The Larnaca District Court also convicted the company for violations related to Minimum Safety and Health Standards Regulations, Management of Safety and Health Issues at Work Regulations, and Occupational Safety and Health Laws. The incident involved a worker's hand getting caught in the machinery, resulting in a complete amputation of fingers.

The Department of Labor Inspection, Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, initiated the legal action, highlighting the company's failure to implement safe working methods. The fine reflects the gravity of the safety lapses that jeopardized the well-being of employees and others in the workplace.

Additionally, the court penalized the company for failing to provide adequate information and usage instructions regarding the feed mill equipment, contributing to the overall safety negligence. The ruling emphasizes the importance of proactive measures and proper communication to prevent such incidents in the future.

In a separate case, the court also fined Brothers A. & P. Andreou Ltd, involved in the manufacturing of feed mill machinery, €500 for violating Basic Requirements (Machinery) Regulations. The penalty was imposed for neglecting to ensure proper CE marking and compliance declarations before installing machinery on a cattle farm.

These legal actions underscore the significance of adhering to safety standards in the agricultural and machinery manufacturing sectors, aiming to protect workers and prevent accidents.
