A high pressure system is affecting Cyprus in the first days of 2022, with mixed skies on Monday and light rain expected in the following days in the western half of the island.
Monday weather will be mostly clear with sunshine dominating the skies but at times increasing clouds will also appear mainly in the foothills and mountains.
Moderate winds are expected in the daytime with temperature highs reaching 18 degrees Celsius inland and along the coast, while it will be 8 high up in the mountains.
Evening skies will remain mostly clear but periods of increasing clouds will remain in the western half of the island. Similar wind activity is expected while temperature lows will drop to 6 degrees inland, around 9 in the southwest, around 10 in all other coastal regions, while it will be one (1) higher up where frost is expected to form overnight.
Low chances of light rain in the mountains and in the western half of the island are expected on and off Tuesday through Thursday during a period of otherwise mostly clear skies.
Snow in the mountains is also expected in the days ahead, while the last measurement of the Troodos Square snow gauge was 5 inches, as recorded at 5am on Monday.
