Police are investigating a possible mob hit after a convicted drug felon was shot and killed outside his residence in Limassol district over the weekend.
Local media said 39-year-old Chris Charilaou was shot and killed outside his residence in Pareklisia on late Saturday night just before midnight.
Police said Charilaou had parked his car on the street outside his residence around 11:45pm, when shots were fired from a distance.
Charilaou was fatally wounded when a bullet pierced his right lung, while his leg and arm also had graze gunshot wounds.
Speculation in the media said Charilaou, a father of two, had gone out to get some food, with investigators saying a takeout order was found at the scene.
Investigators are searching for motive without ruling out a mob hit, while video footage showing the victim walking to his front door before getting shot is being examined by police.
Charilaou was known to police for various cases while two months ago he was convicted in a drug case.
