In a recent ruling, the Nicosia District Court sentenced a 32-year-old man to three months in prison and six penalty points for speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on September 8, 2022, when police conducting a speed check on the Limassol - Nicosia highway near Latsia stopped the man's car, which was traveling at an astonishing speed of 258 kilometers per hour. Subsequent alcohol testing revealed a blood alcohol level of 48μg%, significantly higher than the legal limit of 22μg%.
The court imposed a concurrent 20-day prison sentence for the drink-driving offense, in addition to the speeding penalty.
