Cyprus reports one death, 223 new cases

The Ministry of Health announced today, September 6, 2021, that one person has died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 516.  The person in question is a 55-year old man who was placed in the intensive care unit of the Nicosia General Hospital on the 5th of September.

The Ministry added that there were 223 new coronavirus cases detected out of 74,092 PCR and rapid tests, showing a positivity rate of 0.30%. This brings the total number of cases to 116,991.

Moreover, 139 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 41 are in serious condition. 82.74% of the patients do not have a history of vaccination.

17 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be intubated in hospital intensive care units.
