A DNA test has led to the arrest of a 48-year-old man who is being accused of taking part in a robbery 14 years ago in Limassol.

According to police, a 54-year-old male living in Limassol was attacked by strangers on Makariou Avenue in Limassol, where he was physically assaulted and had his money, mobile phone, and car stolen. The man told cops at the time that the perpetrators got away with 980 Cypriot pounds in cash.

But 14 years later, a witness account based on scientific evidence pointed to the 48-year-old suspect who was placed under arrest on Thursday. It was not immediately clear which part of DNA sample was used to crack the case wide open.

The man is being investigated for crimes related to assault and theft.
