Earthquake shakes ground in Paphos

Local residents reportedly felt inland seismic activity Thursday morning recording 4.3 on Richter scale

An early morning earthquake was recorded in Paphos on Thursday, with reports saying the activity was felt by local residents.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, seismic activity registering 4.3 points on the Richter scale was recorded Thursday early morning at 2:33am.

The epicenter, still unverified at the time of this report, was said to have been inland in Paphos district, 24 miles west of Limassol and 11 miles east to northeast of Paphos.

No damages or injuries were immediately known but local media suggested local residents felt the earthquake. 

Reports later said the earthquake was felt across the island.
