The European Commission will present a proposal in March on creating an EU-wide digital vaccination passport, Commission president Ursula von der Leyen said on Monday.
“As for the question of what the digital green passport could look like: we will submit a legislative proposal in March,” she said in a video conference with German conservative lawmakers.
The move comes as Cypriots stakeholders in the travel and tourism industries have been seeking ways to prepare ahead of the summer season.
Foreign media say around 60% of Germans surveyed recently said they were in favor of immunity passports. Chancellor Angela Merkel has expressed her support but only after the majority of people have been offered the shot.
