With the aim of improving the mutual understanding and interoperability between the Cyprus National Guard, the Greek, Italian and French Armed Forces, the "EUNOMIA 5-2024" Aeronautical Exercise, which took place from 12 to 18 September 2024, was completed.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Defence, the exercise, which was coordinated by Greece, took place in the south and west maritime area of Cyprus, with the participation of the National Guard, the Greek, Italian and French Armed Forces.
It is noted that, during the exercise, Naval-Air Operation exercises, Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIO), Anti-Air/ Surface/ Subsurface, Search and Rescue training were examined.
It is also stated that, "EUNOMIA 5-2024" included the tactical phase of Non-combatant Evacuation Operations as well as a cyber warfare exercise.
As indicated, the quadripartite cooperation signifies the common intent and commitment to implement the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and Customary International Law and enhance stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
“The objective of the exercise was to improve the mutual understanding and interoperability of the participating aeronautical forces,” the press release concludes.
