Two more flights from Lebanon carrying Australian nationals who are departing in light of regional developments are expected at Larnaka on Wednesday. According to information from the Foreign Ministry, the airplanes are carrying approximately 500 nationals of Australia who will depart later on chartered flights directly to their country.
Most stay in Cyprus for just one night and they are hosted in government facilities under the Estia National evacuation plan.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Theodoros Gotsis said yesterday that so far 1,550 citizens, mainly from third countries, have left Lebanon via Cyprus, since September 27, when the assisted departures began.
Out of 1,550, 1,069 were Australian citizens.
