Orange warning issued for Friday but cooler weekend temps just around the corner

High levels of humidity and extreme high temperatures prompted weather officials to issue an orange warning for Cyprus on Friday, but a slight drop is on the way for the weekend.

An orange warning has been issued for Friday from 12 noon until 5pm, with officials saying extreme high temperatures in the interior of the island were expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius.

High levels of humidity were also thrown in the mix, with officials saying the feel factor was expected to be worse throughout Friday while winds were also expected to pick up in the afternoon.

Skies will be mostly clear with highs reaching 43 degrees in the interior, 33 on the western coast, 36 in all other coastal regions, while it will be 34 high up in the mountains.

Evening weather will remain mostly clear with chances of light fog or fog as well as low cloud formations expected overnight in local areas.

Temperature lows will drop to 23 degrees in the interior and in the south, around 24 in all other coastal regions, while it will be 22 high up in the mountains.

Weekend temperatures are expected to drop noticeably with clouds expected on Saturday, mainly out west, while increasing clouds and low chances of mountain showers were expected on Sunday and Monday.
