The owner of two dogs, who had reported them missing from his home in Lythrodontas a few days ago, found them dead yesterday (6/12) in the area near his home.

According to reports, the dogs were found hanged and left in a particular area where the owner would find them.  The grim images below show the dead dogs cut down from their hanging place, still with wire around their necks.

Both the owner and his minor son are distraught over the incident and are cooperating with the Nicosia Animal police to find the perpetrators.

The case has garnered condemnation from the Movement of Ecologists - Citizens' Cooperation.  In a statement, the party called for a full investigation and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

In Cyprus, animal abuse or crimes against animals are punishable with a 10,000 euro fine or 1 year's imprisonment or both.
