In Nicosia, authorities are probing the circumstances surrounding a 30-year-old woman's injury, believed to have occurred when she fell from a first-floor balcony.

The incident, which unfolded around 10:30 pm yesterday, prompted a swift response from law enforcement after a distress call reported the woman's discovery injured on a Nicosia street. Police rushed to the scene for initial assessments while the woman was promptly transported to Nicosia General Hospital for treatment of multiple fractures.

According to preliminary accounts, the woman alleged that her injuries stemmed from an altercation with her 44-year-old spouse. In her statement, she claimed to have been assaulted by her husband, leading to her fall while attempting to flee from the situation.

Following these revelations, authorities swiftly obtained a warrant for the arrest of the 44-year-old suspect to aid in ongoing investigations. The man faces serious allegations, including attempted murder, inflicting severe bodily harm, and assault.

Today, the 44-year-old suspect appeared before the Nicosia District Court, where an eight-day detention order was issued against him pending further legal proceedings.

The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has assumed control of the case, intensifying efforts to unravel the truth behind the incident and ensure justice prevails.
