Price of eggs in Cyprus up by 23%

Egg prices also rose in the EU by 30%, along with the price of food products

According to data released by Eurostat, food prices have significantly risen in 2022.

Among all food products, eggs have seen the highest price increase. The average price of eggs in the EU was 30% higher in January 2023 compared to January 2022.

Cyprus also recorded a 23% increase in egg prices during the same period. In comparison, the price increases were much smaller in January 2022 compared to January 2021 (+7%) and in January 2021 compared to January 2020 (+1%).

Czechia had the highest annual inflation increase for eggs among EU countries (+85% in January 2023 compared to January 2022), followed by Hungary (+80%) and Slovakia (+79%). Meanwhile, Germany, Luxembourg, and Austria had smaller but still significant increases in egg prices (18-19%).
