Newsroom

Larnaca is currently in the grip of severe weather conditions as a weak low-pressure system asserts its dominance, as per the latest updates from the meteorological service. The afternoon hours are expected to bring local rain and isolated thunderstorms, with the eastern half of the island and mountainous regions bearing the brunt of the weather turmoil.

Residents are advised to brace for impact as the meteorological service forecasts intermittently cloudy weather accompanied by sporadic showers and isolated thunderstorms. Winds are predicted to be mainly southwest to northwest, ranging from light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea conditions are projected to be rough to slightly choppy.

Tonight, the cloud cover may intensify, leading to isolated light rain primarily in coastal areas. Additionally, thin fog may develop in localized areas during the early morning hours. Winds are expected to shift mainly northwest to northeast, maintaining a light breeze at 3 Beaufort. The sea is forecasted to be calm to slightly rough, with temperatures dropping to 7 degrees inland, approximately 9 degrees along the coast, and 3 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
