Three Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna have been canceled following the arrest of two suspects allegedly planning a terrorist attack during her performances.
According to a report on CNN, authorities detained a 19-year-old Austrian, identified as an ISIS sympathizer, and another individual later in Vienna. The suspects had reportedly undertaken preparations for an attack, including the suspected storage of explosives and chemical substances.
Barracuda Music, the promoter for Swift’s concerts in Austria, announced the cancellations for safety reasons. The decision has significant implications for local businesses and has deeply disappointed fans. Swift’s official website has listed the shows as canceled, and all tickets will be refunded within 10 business days.
The Eras Tour, which began in March 2023, has already traveled through the U.S., South America, Asia, and Australia, and is currently in Europe. Vienna was set to be one of the final stops before the tour’s North American leg.
The cancellation highlights ongoing concerns about large events being vulnerable to terrorist attacks. Swift has previously expressed fear over such attacks and the extensive security measures required to protect fans.
