A homecare worker from Thailand, who is being accused of lewd acts against a man with autism, is asking for a lawyer to defend herself in court against assault charges and video footage.
Police investigated the case with utmost discretion and confidentiality, where the woman is being accused of tying a young autistic man to the chair and performing lewd acts on him while he was under her care.
The complaint was filed by one the man’s close relatives who reportedly got wind of the situation and video footage showing the homecare worker, in multiple instances, tying his patient’s leg to the chair and performing the lewd acts, according to daily Phileleftheros.
Last Friday in court, the woman asked a judge to assign an attorney for her defence before she can answer to charges, which include conspiracy, indecent assault, and common assault against a person in her care due to health reasons.
Police were not immediately available for comment, telling Knews this was an old case and the woman will remain in custody until her next hearing on Thursday, July 12, at the Nicosia District Court.
Another witness, a foreign national who is also a homecare worker, is expected to testify in court due to her intimate knowledge of the facts in the case, according to Phileleftheros.
