Women continue to earn less than men, according to data published by the Statistical Service office of Cyprus.
Preliminary data revealed that the average gross monthly earnings of men in the second quarter of 2021 was estimated at €2,071 compared to women at €1,728.
Consequently, there was significant growth in the gross monthly salaries for men (increase of 3.3%) vs. women’s salaries (decrease of 0.1%) in the second quarter of 2020.
Data also showed that the average gross monthly earnings of employees (men and women) in the second quarter of 2021 are estimated at €1,916 compared to €1,883 in the second quarter of 2020, which is an increase of 1.7% overall.
The study was based on the amount of the benefits paid by the employer and did not include allowances from the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance.
