One of the discussions that impassions readers concerns everything related to food in restaurants: the quality, the price, the quantity, the service, and even the environment.

In many social media posts, the comments and discussions that follow focus mainly on customer behavior. Did they see the price list? Is it helpful or wrong to publish reviews and complaints about businesses? Should they judge the quantity of food, the quality, and so on?

A recent example was a post on Facebook (Where We Went and Didn't Like It), from an anonymous poster, with the following caption about a specific restaurant in Nicosia: "The following dish (we didn't eat any of it; it had just arrived) cost €30. Your comments are welcome."

This was followed by a storm of comments with different approaches: many agreed, many disagreed, some criticized, and many made jokes, such as the following:

  • "Didn't you see the price list before ordering?"
  • "Can you see the portion size on the menu?"
  • "One piece of chicken and three potatoes for 30 euros? Where did you eat, under the Eiffel Tower?"
  • "You go to these places, you eat, you drink, and then you get all worked up. I've never understood it!"
  • "It must have been cooked since 2024."
  • "What kind of meat is that for 30 euros, ostrich?"
  • "Lemons aren't cheap anymore."
  • "The comment was made because the food was burnt, not because of the quantity."
  • "There's a discount."
  • "I still don't understand why you denounce a business by name when you don't give your own name. Something's not right."
  • "From the menu, I see that it's organic, so it's okay."
