Over the course of the last three days, Paphos Assistant Police Operations Director Michael Nicolaou reported a surge in traffic violations, with a total of 99 drivers cited. Predominantly, these infractions were related to speeding.
During the intensified traffic controls conducted within this period, Nicolaou disclosed that out of the 99 reported incidents, six involved individuals driving under the influence of alcohol, while 19 were flagged for exceeding speed limits. Additionally, one driver was apprehended for operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs. The remaining complaints pertained to minor traffic violations.
In response to this concerning trend, Nicolaou emphasized the ongoing need for coordinated efforts to curb road traffic collisions. He confirmed that proactive measures will persist in order to ensure road safety in the region.
