Many Cypriots are traveling abroad this year for the New Year, choosing as destinations mostly Greece and the United Kingdom, but also Central European countries, the President of the Association of Travel Agents (ACTA) Haris Papacharalambous has told CNA.
According to Papacharalambous, the numbers for Cypriots’ trips abroad “will be slightly higher than in 2019 before the pandemic, which was our best year” in terms of Cypriots traveling abroad.
He said that they didn’t have exact numbers for the time being because there were also people who made the arrangements for their trips.
But there will be data, he noted, a few weeks after the end of the holiday season when the state statistical service will carry out its analyses.
The ATCA President said that Greece was the most preferred destination, and then the United Kingdom, followed by Austria, France, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, and Germany. The average stay of Cypriots abroad during this period is four to five nights, he added.
In general, he said, people travel, noting that the times when traveling was a kind of luxury are gone.
