Police continued to conduct checks to assure the enforcement of the Health Minister’s decree banning indoor gatherings of over 75 people, with seven reports filed on Monday against premises in Paphos, Larnaca, Nicosia, and Limassol.

In Paphos, police reported two restaurants and one bar, while one beauty salon in Larnaca and toy stores in Nicosia and Limassol were also caught hosting more than 75 people.

Two more reports were filed by police on Monday, when  authorities said they had conducted a sum of 1,390 checks across Cyprus.

The decree, in effect since March 11 until the end of the month, was enforced as part of a bundle of government measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Violation of the decree could lead to a prison sentence of up to six months or a fine, or both.

On Monday, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases reached 46 in the south, and two in the British Bases, while the number rose to seven in the north on Tuesday.
