Cyprus Seeds sparks an innovation revolution

From art to energy: Discover how new ideas from startups are transforming Cyprus into a hub of creativity and technology

Newsroom

Exciting things are happening in Cyprus as Cyprus Seeds wraps up its third cycle of innovation, highlighted by a lively event at the Reflect Festival in Limassol. This program is helping new companies with fresh ideas to grow, and there’s more to come as they prepare to launch their fourth cycle at the end of August.

At the recent Innovation Showcase, over 150 people gathered, including local leaders, investors, and innovators from places like the U.S., U.K., and Greece. Attendees heard from speakers like Linda Plano, who shared tips on “The Perfect Pitch,” and other experts discussed how to create a thriving environment for startups.

This cycle saw four new startups emerge, each tackling different areas like art, technology, energy, and health. One standout, ARTES, impressed investors at a recent summit in Athens, catching the eye of several venture capital firms.

Another startup, IoTshield, is already testing its technology with local clients in the utility and private sectors after successfully launching from the CYENS Center of Excellence. SENSSOS also made waves by securing funding and support, while MammoCheck, developed at Frederick University, is gearing up for further growth in a top accelerator program.

Looking to the future, Cyprus Seeds is not stopping here. Next year, they’ll bring in the prestigious MIT Mentoring of Mentors Program to strengthen local support for startups. Plus, they’re gearing up to invite more scientific teams to apply for their fourth cycle, focusing on exciting fields like renewable energy and digital transformation.

With Cyprus Seeds leading the way, the island is becoming a hotbed for innovative ideas and new technologies, setting the stage for an exciting future.
