The trial of two individuals, aged 49 and 54, in connection with a double murder that occurred on June 29 outside a bar in Ypsona has been rescheduled to February 19, 2024. The victims, 44-year-old Mario Onisiforou and 51-year-old Michalis Michael lost their lives following a confrontation.

The accused, facing charges of premeditated murder and causing harm to a 43-year-old friend of the victims, appeared before the Limassol Criminal Court. The defense lawyers requested a postponement, citing the receipt of additional testimonial material that requires thorough examination.

In a separate plea, the lawyer representing the 49-year-old defendant requested protection for his client at the Central Prison, claiming he had been a victim of beatings. The court ordered the accused back to the Central Prison.

The double murder transpired in the early hours of June 29, when the 43-year-old friend of the victims was allegedly attacked by the accused outside a bar. Both Onisiforou and Michael rushed to his aid and were fatally wounded with a knife. Onisiforou passed away shortly afterward, while Michael succumbed to his injuries at midnight the following day.
