Authorities are investigating the death of an elderly man after he was found burned to death in his house in rural Nicosia.
According to local media, a house fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon around 2pm in Sina Oros village, rural Nicosia, where a 75-year-old senior citizen with a disability was found dead.
Initial statements by officials pointed to a lit cigarette as the origin of the fire, based on a preliminary stage of the investigation.
No official information was immediately available regarding the incident.
Some reports said the man’s wife attempted to put out the fire but failed to contain the flames and called the fire department.
