A senior citizen in Paphos was killed in a tractor accident on Sunday, while he was tending to his field in Simou.
According to media reports, a 76-year-old man from Arodes was operating his tractor on Sunday evening, when he lost control of the heavy equipment and was fatally wounded.
Relatives of the senior citizen, who went to look for him, found the man pinned underneath the tractor
Relatives of the victim, who was later identified as Stefanos Lefkatis, had been searching for him after realising he had not returned to his home in Simou on time. When they went to look for him at the vineyard, they found the senior citizen pinned underneath the tractor.
An ambulance transported Lefkatis to the Emergency Room at Paphos General Hospital, where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.
Police from the Polis Chrysochous station had also rushed to the scene and ruled out any foul play. An autopsy scheduled for Monday is expected to show the exact cause of death.
