Flames broke out at noon on Tuesday at a junkyard in the northern section of Mia Milia (Haspolat) village, an eastern Nicosia suburb.

Trucks belonging to the fire service in the north rushed to the scene to battle the flames, which quickly spread due to strong winds.

As pictures show, the fire was visible from across the divide. The extent of the damage is still unclear.
