The government has delayed its decision on the Crete-Cyprus electricity interconnection project, despite tight time constraints, according to Kathimerini's Apostolos Tomaras. While the Cabinet was expected to conclude this week, the government announced that the matter has been postponed until next week.

The Crete-Cyprus electricity interconnection is seen as a vital project, both strategically and economically, for Cyprus and the European Union. In its statement, the government emphasized its commitment to handling the issue with "responsibility and due diligence" to serve the best interests of the Cypriot people.

A key meeting, initiated by the Republic of Cyprus, will now take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 3:30 PM.

The meeting will be attended by Cypriot Ministers of Energy, Trade and Industry, and Finance, as well as a Deputy Minister. The Greek Energy Minister, a representative from the European Commission, and officials from ADMIE, NEXANS, and the Legal Service of Cyprus will also participate.
