The Council of Ministers, led by Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou, has decided to provide financial aid for damages caused by the tornado in the Limassol district on February 14. Ioannou emphasized the swift initiation of payments if the March 15 application deadline is met.

The damage assessment includes approximately 191 houses, 19 commercial premises, and 104 vehicles. Specific categorization determines the aid, with uninsured private residences receiving 80% financial assistance, up to €20,000, and insured ones eligible for a maximum of €3,000 after deducting the excess waiver.  Similar aid structures apply to rental homes and commercial properties.

Applications are open until March 15, with a committee, including civil engineers and Limassol municipality technicians, overseeing evaluations.

In addition, the Council has allocated humanitarian aid to Kormakitis in Kyrenia province for damages not covered by insurance in the uncontrolled areas, earmarking €87,086 for residential properties and €48,000 for infrastructure and road projects. Full coverage is provided for damages up to €1,000, and those exceeding that amount receive 80% assistance.
