Man in north jailed for raping daughter

A Turkish Cypriot court has sentenced a man to 28 years for raping his teenage daughter

A man in the north was sentenced to 28 years behind bars after he was found guilty of raping his teenage daughter for a number of years.

According to Turkish Cypriot media, the father was found guilty of raping his daughter when she was between the ages of 10 and 16.

The man, described as a Turkish national, had initially filed a motion to appeal his sentence. But during his court appearance, he showed up alone without legal representation and told the judge he was withdrawing the appeal.

While at the courthouse, the man tried to lash out at media reporters but police officers managed to hold him back.
