In response to urgent requests from Lebanon regarding its struggling medical system, Cyprus is sending nearly three tons of essential medicines and medical supplies to the neighboring country.
The decision was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, organized the shipment after receiving information about Lebanon's serious medical needs.
"After learning about the critical situation in Lebanon's healthcare system, we mobilized quickly to collect pharmaceutical aid," said Ambassador Andreas S. Kakouris, the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The collection of supplies is expected to be completed today, with flights to Beirut scheduled to begin tomorrow.
The symbolic delivery took place today at Larnaca Airport, attended by Kakouris, Dr. Christina Giannaki, the Director General of the Ministry of Health, and Mrs. Claude El Hajal, the Lebanese Ambassador to Cyprus.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to everyone involved for their quick action in gathering and organizing the aid.
Cyprus remains committed to supporting those in need across the wider Middle East region, emphasizing its ongoing efforts to assist those affected by difficult circumstances.
