In an ongoing effort to improve Larnaca's tourism offerings and meet the growing expectations of visitors, the Larnaca Tourism Board, in collaboration with the city municipality and hotels in the Pyla tourist area, has launched a thorough beach sand cleanup operation. Supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, this initiative covers key beaches in the region.
The cleanup, which began recently, targets beaches in the Pyla tourist area, including the popular Finikoudes, Castle Beach, Kastella, the stretch along T. Mitsopoulou Street, and Mackenzie Beach. The work is expected to continue until early September.
In recent years, the Larnaca Tourism Board has invested significantly in enhancing the appeal of its beaches. This includes efforts to increase green spaces, install outdoor fitness equipment and wooden playgrounds, and develop sports facilities such as beach volleyball and soccer fields. A highlight is the new calisthenics park installed at Kastella Beach, which has quickly become a popular attraction.
Additionally, the restoration and improvement of Boules/Petanque courts at Finikoudes are underway, catering particularly to Scandinavian and French visitors, who favor the sport.
These initiatives aim to boost the attractiveness of Larnaca’s beaches, which are a vital part of the city's tourism experience, especially during the summer season.
