A stranded dog’s crying for help in coastal Limassol got the attention of a concerned citizen, who pointed rescuers to an inaccessible beach last week.
According to media reports, last Saturday a concerned citizen in Limassol alerted authorities to a dog’s whining that was coming from an almost inaccessible part of Zapallo Bay, a coastal cove surrounded by rocky hills.
The operation was described as difficult due to the rough landscape with hills and rocky terrain
British Base personnel, including emergency rescuers and a stand-by RAF helicopter, mounted an operation to retrieve the terrified pooch.
The operation was described as difficult due to the rough landscape with hills and rocky terrain, making the use of ropes dangerous.
Coast guard officers finally managed to approach the area by boat and retrieved the canine, which was handed over to a member of the Animal Party Cyprus.
The dog was then taken to a Hope for Homeless dog shelter.
It was not immediately clear how the dog got trapped in such an inaccessible area or whether it belonged to someone.
