According to local media, 54-year-old Andreas Constantinou was inspecting a building under construction Thursday morning around 7:30am on Griva Digeni Avenue in Limassol.

Reports said Constantinou, described as a Greek Cypriot subcontractor, lost his balance under circumstances still pending investigation and fell from a height of about 4.5 metres into a gap between the excavation and a retaining wall.

An ambulance rushed the man to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital, where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police officials and staff from the Labour department were jointly investigating the incident.
