Tourist couple injured in moped accident

Husband and wife on moped seriously wounded in Protaras road collision


A tourist couple was hospitalized on Monday following a road accident in Protaras, when their moped collided with an oncoming vehicle.

According to local media, a 45-year-old man was riding a moped with his 24-year-old wife as his passenger, on Monday evening around 8:20pm along the Protaras – Paralimni road.

Unconfirmed reports said the moped veered off course and got into the opposite lane, where it collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Husband and wife were rushed to the Emergency Room at Famagusta General Hospital where reports said they were in serious condition.

The car driver was said to be a 24-year-old male, while additional reports said the man and woman on the moped were wearing their protective helmets.

Paralimni police are investigating the incident.
