Foreign worker in Nicosia dies in hospital days after falling head first while on the job

A male worker, who was critically injured last week after falling from a height while on the job, has succumbed to his injuries.

According to local media, a 30-year-old male worker described as an Indian national critically injured on the job died on Sunday at Nicosia General Hospital.

Last Thursday afternoon around 4pm, the man had been working at an indoor site in Dali’s industrial park, Nicosia district, where welding activities were taking place.

There were no details regarding his injuries but sources said the man was working when he fell down head first

It was not fully clear whether the worker was directly involved with welding or carrying out other tasks at the time of the incident, but media reports confirmed that he fell to the ground from a height of three meters.

An ambulance rushed the man to the Emergency Room at Nicosia General Hospital, where doctors said he was in a very critical condition.

The man succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.

No official details have been released regarding his injuries but sources said the man was carrying out a task associated with his line of work when he fell down head first.

Oolice officials told Knews on Monday that both law enforcement investigators and labor inspectors were assigned to the case in accordance with routine procedures.
