Weather forecast: Monday tries to keep it together as the weekend’s memory lingers

A shy high-pressure system takes the wheel with steady hands, but not much horsepower.

Newsroom

Oh, weekend. Gone too soon. You were warm, bright, and full of questionable decisions. Now Monday’s here, pretending to be calm and organized while quietly holding a cup of tepid weather.

A weak high-pressure system is in charge today. “Weak” being the operative word. It’s trying to keep things in order, but honestly, it’s giving substitute-teacher energy.

Today: Expect some patches of high cloud drifting by, like leftover thoughts from the weekend sky. Not doing much, just hanging around. Winds start off from the northeast to southeast, light at 3 Beaufort, then shift to a more casual southwesterly to northwesterly direction by afternoon, light to moderate at 3-4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough, which is sailor-speak for “don’t panic, just hold your drink steady.”

Temperatures are feeling ambitious again; around 27°C inland and along the coasts, and a pleasant 19°C up in the higher mountains, where the air always thinks it’s better than everyone else.

Tonight: Mostly clear skies will settle in, though a few extra clouds may wander by just to see what’s going on. Winds will turn northwesterly to northeasterly, staying light at 3 Beaufort. The sea remains calm to slightly rough, apparently committed to this whole “mildly interesting” act.

Tuesday: The clouds get chatty again, showing up in greater numbers, not enough for drama, but enough to remind you that the atmosphere still has opinions.

Wednesday & Thursday: Things escalate to mostly cloudy skies, with isolated showers or the occasional thunderstorm joining the scene. Think of it as the sky’s midweek mood swing, expressive, unpredictable, and probably needing coffee.

Temperatures will begin a slow retreat over the next three days, eventually dropping below normal, as if the atmosphere itself suddenly realized it overdid it last week and decided to chill out (metaphorically, not literally).
