Austrian parliament leader in Cyprus for talks

Sobotka's official visit to Cyprus includes talks with Annita Demetriou

The President of the National Council of the Austrian Parliament (Nationalrat) Wolfgang Sobotka, arrives on Tuesday in Cyprus for an official visit, where he will be received by President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides and will hold talks with the President of the House of Representatives Annita Demetriou.

Sobotka arrives early afternoon in Larnaka and will be welcomed by Demetriou and at 1630 he will visit the House of Representatives to hold a meeting with her. After the meeting, the two Presidents will make statements to the press. After that he will attend a roundtable discussion on “Building synergies to address the migration crisis” that will be held at the Constantine Leventis Auditorium, of the A.G. Leventis Gallery.

He will also attend an official dinner by the President of the House of Representatives.

On Wednesday, Sobotka, accompanied by his Cypriot counterpart, will visit the old town of Nicosia and during a walking guided tour in the Chrysalionotissa area he will observe the ceasefire line. He will then visit the old Nicosia airport in the UN Protected Area and the Committee of Missing Persons (CMP) Anthropological Laboratory.

At 1230 he will be received by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace.

Later he will attend a lunch hosted by the Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Harris Georgiades before leaving Cyprus at 1725.
