The European Commission has sent more than half a million rapid test kits to Cyprus in a bid to boost population testing on the island, it emerged on Friday.
A press release by the representation of the EC in Cyprus says that Head of the representation Ierotheos Papadopoulos visited two rapid test units in Nicosia on Friday morning, where part of the kits from the Commission were used.
Commissioner Stella Kyriakides said that the EC sent the kits to Cyprus in order to contribute to the island’s efficiency in carrying out mass testing. She described the rapid test method as an important tool in the fight to curb the spread of Covid.
