A young man who was being sought by police is in critical condition after a free fall from the rooftop of a building in Limassol.
According to police, a shop owner in Limassol notified officers on Tuesday around 1:30pm that a man had fallen from a height of six metres outside his shop in the skylight area of the building.
The man, described as a 21-year-old male from India, was rushed to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital where he was deemed to be in “critical condition” and then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at Nicosia General.
A police statement said 'the person of interest had left the café by the time officers and the complainant had arrived'
About half an hour earlier, according to police, another man from India had approached police on bicycle patrol accusing the 21-year-old of damaging his vehicle and pointed his location at a nearby café.
Police told Knews that the officers went to look for the 21-year-old man at the café but it was not clear whether they gave chase or the person of interest was attempting to hide.
A statement from police said “the person of interest had left the café by the time the officers and the complainant had arrived.”
The 21-year-old male was not described as a suspect but police also said an investigation into the complaint was still pending. It was not clear whether a written complaint had been filed.
“A man is in critical condition and the first priority is to wait for an update on his health,” police told Knews.
The circumstances of the fall were also being investigated, police said.
