Larnaca police try to locate hit-and-run vehicle involved in injuring young woman from India

A housemaid from India was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident in Larnaca, with police asking the public for help in tracking down the vehicle involved in the incident.

According to police, a 22-year-old female is in critical condition after she was injured in a road collision in Larnaca on Friday evening. Sources told Knews that the domestic worker was described as a foreign national from India, who is on a work visa in Cyprus.

The housemaid was on foot on Zakynthou Street, according to reports, where she was struck by an oncoming vehicle that was moving from the Lefkaritis traffic lights towards the lights at Sklavenitis supermarket. The incident took place in the night around 9:15pm.

Police said they were looking for a Toyota black sedan believed to be the vehicle that struck the woman before leaving the scene of the accident

An ambulance rushed the young woman to the Emergency Room at Larnaca General Hospital where doctors said she sustained a head injury and broken ribs. Her condition was described as serious but out of danger.

Police said they are looking for a Toyota black sedan (saloon) which is believed to be the vehicle that struck the housemaid before leaving the scene of the accident.

The suspected vehicle is said to have signs of a crash, according to police, citing a possible broken front light, a dent on the car hood and windshield, as well as a broken front left mirror.
