President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides is in Brussels to attend the informal European Council and the European People's Party (EPP) informal summit. EU leaders will evaluate the results of the recent European elections and discuss the appointment of new top EU officials.

According to a statement by the Director of the President’s Press Office, Victoras Papadopoulos, President Christodoulides will join the EPP’s informal meeting at noon and participate in the informal European Council working dinner in the evening.

At the EPP Summit, discussions will focus on the party’s stance regarding candidates for the four top positions in European institutions. During the evening working dinner, heads of state and governments from EU member states will assess the recent election outcomes and exchange views on appointing new EU institution officials. The goal is to reach a consensus before the regular European Council meeting on June 27-28.

President Christodoulides is accompanied by Deputy Minister of European Affairs Marilena Raouna, Director of his Press Office, Director of his Diplomatic Office Doros Venezis, and other officials.
