A local senior citizen died after collapsing at Mackenzie beach in Larnaca on Tuesday morning.
The man, described as an 86-year-old Greek Cypriot male, was walking along the beach at Mackenzie around 9am when he reportedly fell unconscious to the ground.
People reportedly rushed to him and he was receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation until the ambulance arrived.
He was taken to Larnaca General Hospital where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.
Police said they ruled out foul play while an autopsy is expected to show the exact cause of death.
Mackenzie is a popular destination for walks along the beach, particularly among the locals and the elderly. The shoreline also gets crowded late morning and early afternoon hours, especially on weekends.
